Madison Nichols – Girls Academy National Tournament Standout – June 2022

The Girls Academy League National Playoffs wrapped on June 29, as teams from around the country traveled to Oceanside, CA to compete at the playoffs and showcase. There were plenty of teams vying for attention with several hundred college coaches and scouts on hand. Throughout the games at SoCal Sports Complex, top players began to emerge from the field putting on convincing performances in the 2005 age group.
TopDrawerSoccer highlighted Madison Nichols in their article as an individual standout in the games. In a closely contested matchup against a talented Nationals SC side, Nichols’ one-time finish in the first half gave the Georgia side the edge. Nichols consistently erased defenders creating quality chances and leading to the game winning goal by Anna Weir for Tophat. Nichols contributed throughout the playoff weekend with three goals and two assists in three games. Tophat finished the weekend with three wins, then was defeated 2-1 in the national quarterfinal match in a hard-fought battle with a talented Lonestar side.
Madison is ranked in the top 150 club players in the country and trains and plays with Tophat Soccer in Atlanta, Georgia as a member of the #11 ranked team in the country with the #1 soccer club in the US. Madison also plays in the United Soccer League (USL-W) with Southern Soccer Academy Royals.
