The Third Annual CESA Pre-Season Friendlies were held last weekend in South Carolina, which featured some of the top clubs form the Southeast Region in the ECNL, Girls Academy, and other National Leagues.
Madison Nichols scored the first goal of the season for a talented Tophat U16 Girls Academy (GA) team on Sunday, August 16 at the CESA ECNL Friendlies. After receiving a brilliantly played through-ball from Nina Bartlett, Nichols took a touch and fired a rocket into the left corner of the goal past the SC United keeper. Tophat keeper Jenna Sapong was on fire, saving a number of point-blank shots and keeping a clean sheet in Saturday’s match with Charlotte Soccer Academy U16 ECNL (0-0) and the Sunday match with SC United U16 ECNL.
